Mysore
Mysore a world-famous and 2nd biggest city of Karnataka, India is famous for tourism spots. This Indian tourist place lies approximately 146 km in southwest direction of Bangalore. The Chamundi Hills is covering the city with the spread in more than 128.42 kms area. As per records, population of Mysore's city is crossed to 887,446 in 2011.
Mysore was serving as the capital of Mysore Kingdom until 1947, though it was merged to Republic India in 1947. The big and most successful rulers of Mysore Mr. Hyder Ali and his son Tipu Sultan was the world famous. They both ruled in 18th century and tried to protect the city from different Indian and outer rulers. Today city is grown for its culture and tourism part so people are reaching the spot from around the corner of the world.
The most noticed tourist spot of Mysore the Palace as all festivals are celebrated in this Palace with full joy and pleasure. The special event and fest is Dashera festival, and most of the visitors come to the city at such period. The sweets made in Mysore are famous throughout the India. The known names to the world of these sweets are Mysore Pak and the Mysore Peta. Economy of Mysore is basically depending on Tourism as the historical spots and related stories of countless rulers of the city are special. Mysore is directly connected to other cities of India through road and rail.
This cultural capital of state Karnataka is popular for festivals. The oldest festival of India Dashera was introduced by Ruler Raja Wodeyar I, in 1610. Mahanavami is ninth day of Dashera on which the royal sword is adored and taken on a march of elephants decorated with various things. The camels and horses are also participating in this march of Dashera.
The Zoo of Mysore was founded in 1892, which is positioned near the Kukkarahalli and Karanji lakes. Here the sightseers will be able to enjoy water events as well. The museums involve RMNH (Regional Museum of Natural History), FLM (Folk Lore Museum), RLM (Railway Museum) and ORI (Oriental Research Institute). Enjoying the musical fountain in Brindavan Gardens could be special moment of life. The evening show conducted in the garden is really amazing, and the local people and outsiders are reaching the garden regularly. If you are visiting Mysore, you should not miss this musical fountain and the park of Mysore. If you love wild animals, you can plan for Nagarhole National Park, which contains numerous wild animals. The other national parks accessible near Mysore are BNP (Bandipur National Park) and MNP (Mudumalai National Park) containing gaur, elephants, chital, tigers, leopards and some dangerous wild animals and species. The big waterfalls at Shivanasa Mudra are also unique spots for a tourist.
Bus: the city is linked through NH (national highway) 212 and frequent buses from diverse cities of India. The inter-state highway 17 links the Mysore city to Bangalore, and the lane of this highway is converted to four-lane from two lanes. KSRTC (Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation) and few private agencies are also operating the buses to reach Mysore.
Rail: railway station of Mysore has three broad gauge lines connecting the city to Hassan, Bangalore Chamaraja Nagar and many big cities across the country. Shatabdi Express is the best train to reach Mysore in lesser time.
