Bhutan has a lot of popular tourist spots. It is called the land of thunder dragon. Most of the nature and scenic spots to travel in Bhutanare unspoiled and untouched. Major part of landscape of Bhutan is under conservation zone for nature and animals.
Traditional tours to Bhutan
The tradition and culture of Bhutan is intact and is protected from ages. All the historic monuments and buildings are preserved in Bhutan. Bhutan follows constitutional monarchy and most of the people of Bhutan follow Vajrayana Buddhism. This is also the state religion. Rich culture and traditions are major attractions to travel in Bhutan.
Buddhism holy temples in Bhutan
There are many famous and beautiful Buddhist temples in Bhutan. These temples are considered to be very sacred by the local people. These temples serve as major tourist attractions. One of the important and popular Buddhist temples is Yagang Lhakhang. This is a 16th century structure located in Mongar Town of Bhutan. Religious treasures and masks are found in this temple. This temple also contained musical instruments, armor, ancient weapons, and xylograph blocks. These blocks were used for painting flags. An annual three day festival is celebrated in this temple. This festival involves masked dancing and is one of the oldest festivals held in Bhutan.
Holy sites of interest in the country
There are 10 Dzongs in Bhutan. These are also beautiful and sacred Buddhist temples. Some of these Dzongs are fortresses and have sustained damage from wars in history. The 10 Dzongs present in Bhutan are Drukgyel, Lingzhi Yügyal Dzong, Tashichho, Trongsa, Gasa, Punakha, Jakar, Rinpung, Lhuentse and Simtokha Dzong. There are some other Dzongs present outside Bhutan too. There are several other structures which were preserved in Bhutan from very early times.
Celebrations and events of interest
Bhutan celebrates a lot of events as a part of its culture. Miss Bhutan is an annually held beauty contest which is conducted by MPC Bhutan Entertainment based in Thimpu. There are a lot of local festivals called Tsechus held in various parts of Bhutan. These festivals display a rich culture and tradition along with entertainment. Various kinds of Dances are performed during these festivals. Each festival generally lasts for 3 to 4 days and every day, different kinds of traditional dances are performed. These tsechus are celebrated from a very long time and their inception was during 8th or 9th century. These dances are performed around a story of a teacher from 9th century. All the dancers are masked and these are called cham dances.
Way of travelling to the country
Over the decades, various places of tourism and knowledge were established by the Bhutanese Government. Many of these places were museums and parks which attracted a lot of people. Travel in Bhutanis mainly concentrated around the nation’s capital Thimpu and the western city of Paro. Paro airport is the only international airport to travel in Bhutan. The tourism industry in Bhutan is privatized and there are a number of operators who provide excellent service.
