NAAGA LAND In Indai Tourisum Spot

Nagaland is a naroow strip of mountain territory blessed with an abundance of natural beauty and an ideal destination for tourists, is bound by Arunachal Pardesh and parts of Assam in north, Manipur in the south, Myanmar (Burma) in the east and Assam in the west. The remote and hilly state of Nagaland shares a border with Myanmar. It is a land of green valleys with meandering streams, rivers, high mountains, gorges and an astonishingly rich variety of flora and fauna. It is the only state where English is the official language. The people of Nagaland come from 16 tribes, the more prominent among which are the Angamis, aos, Konyaks, Kukis, Lothas, Semas, and Wanchus.

These fierce headhunters often beheaded their enemies and carried the heads back to their village to ensure a good harvest. The heads were proudly displayed in a morung, a boy's dormitory. The place is also used for storing weapons and the sacred drum. The Nagas are wonderful musicians, singers and dancers with an inbuilt sense of grace and rythm.

Permit forms for foreign tourists visiting Nagaland are available from Indian embassies / consulates and Foreigners' registration offices in major cities in India. Copy of completed permit form, photograph, personal details, Indian Visa and the travel itinerary is needed for the permit. It doesn't cost anything but might take upto two weeks.
